The simple answer... yes.
Right about now you are probably thinking, okay Cheyenne but...how?
I am so happy you asked!
Silicone (with an e) man made chemical compound that actually consists of several different chemicals, including:
- Natural Silicon (found in the ocean)
- Oxygen
- Carbon
- Hydrogen
Silicone is most commonly made as a liquid or soft flexible plastic and is currently being used in everything from sealants, adhesives, electrical insulation, and cookware to lubricants (eww), and of course, cosmetic implants.
When it comes to cosmetic applications though, silicone has even been directly injected into body parts such as breast, butt, lips, and clits. (Yep, I said it. Now's probably a good time to tell you that I don't... what are the kids calling it these days? Oh yeah, sugar coat it! I just say it like it is so if your offended well than you should def keep reading!)
Today some "experts" are still saying that silicone is safe and "likely" not toxic because it’s considered to be chemically stable. This is despite the fact that the FDA has warned that liquid silicone is likely to move throughout the body and can cause blockage of blood vessels in the brain, heart, lymph nodes, and eve lungs, which can lead to serious health complications and even DEATH.
So how is it that the FDA strongly warning against using liquid silicone and yet we are still seeing silicone implants being inserted in bodies all over the world?
Well, allegedly since the liquid silicone is housed in a hard silicone shell the toxic nature of the liquid compound inside has been considered “safe” but there is substantial evidence dating back to at least 1998 that says otherwise.
Gel bleed is a term that refers to microscopic diffusion of silicone gel through the breast implant shell, meaning that the liquid silicone does actually leak through the outer shell and can make its way through the body also known as silicone migration.
That doesn’t mean if you have saline implants you are any safer though.
The outer silicone shell of saline implants is still silicone coming in direct contact with your your body from the inside and it is also known to break down over time and slough off silicone particles into the surrounding tissue. Not to mention there is a whole host of other extremely toxic chemicals and heavy metals found in both saline and silicone implants ALL BREAST IMPLANTS run the risk of growing toxic mold inside that can become life threatening. (Gross right??)
So with the number of women reporting symptoms of breast implant illness growing rapidly and the rupture rate of breast implants knowingly increasing the longer they remain in the body on October 27th, 2021 the FDA FINALLY issued their most serious warning for drugs and medical devices known as a “Black Box Warning”. This states that breast implants have clear side effects that may cause serious injury or death.

So it is safe to say that silicone in the body regardless of the form is in fact very toxic and when it comes to breast implants specifically, no matter the make or model they are now labeled as medically unsafe by the FDA.
So if silicone has made its way into your body due to injection, implant leakage, or absorption through gel bleed, it is very likely to cause significant health issues. These issues may develop quickly or slowly over time and can include anything from a weakened immune system to significant autoimmune conditions such as:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Progressive systemic sclerosis
- Vasculitis
Some of the common symptoms linked to these conditions include:
- Anemia
- Blood clots
- Brain fog and memory problems
- Chest pain
- Eye problems
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Joint pain
- Hair loss
- Kidney issues
- Rashes
- Sensitivity to sunlight and other lights
And so much more…

And if f you have breast implants (or had your implants removed but the capsules where left behind) you are also at risk multiple forms of cancer all of which can be life-threatening. It's also really important to note that though most sources are still saying only textured implants can cause these cancers, that is in fact, NOT true. Patients with both smooth and textured implants containing both silicone and saline filler have been diagnosed with these cancers.
